RAYMOND, Maurice F. (Morris Raymond Saunders). Early Scrapbook of The Great Raymond. With contents dating from the 1890s to 1906, filling approximately 200 leaves with hundreds if not over 1000 items, and including early business cards (one advertising Raymond as a boy magician), letterheads, newspaper clippings, handbills, broadsides, and related ephemera, the book chronicles many of Raymond’s early exploits as a magician and escape artist, as well as his presentation of effects with a pseudo-spiritualistic theme, ala Houdini. Well-worth cloth bound scrapbook with binding quite loose and segments of the backstrip perished, and with contents shaken and worn, but in good condition overall. A unique record of this American illusionist and some of his earliest days as a professional entertainer.
