The Witch of the Pumpkin. Los Angeles: Owen Brothers, 1950s. A large wooden pumpkin is carried onto the stage and placed atop a decorated fenced-in platform. The top of the pumpkin is removed, and a woman dressed as a witch is produced from within, who climbs out using the included specially made ladder. A visually deceptive example of this seldom-encountered illusion. Includes four wooden packing crates used to tour the illusion, most stenciled with the “Daniel & Co.” logo. Wooden crate for base approximately 50 x 50”. Overall wear from many years of use. Good. A beautifully made, uncommon Owen Brothers piece. Owned and used by Mel-Roy, this prop was later purchased from him by The Great Virgil. After several years, Virgil traded the apparatus back to its builder, Carl Owen, in partial payment for his first Thin Model Sawing in Half illusion. The prop was later owned by John Daniel.
