Silent Mora Chinese Sticks. Boston: Louis McCord, 1955. Set of bamboo sticks with threads terminating in tassels running through each. The cords react in sympathy to each other; when one is pulled down, the other retracts, and vice-versa, even though there is no connection between them. Length 12". Entirely handmade and decorated by Mora. Each stick signed, inscribed, and dated in ink to John Braun by Mora on Sept. 12, 1955. One stick bears the text: “Chinese proverb: More men are drowned in the bowl than in the sea.”
