Drumhead Tube. Los Angeles: F.G. Thayer, ca. 1920. Large all-wood Drumhead Tube. Magician shows it empty, caps its ends with tissue, then produces a large number of handkerchiefs from inside. Expertly wood-turned with two turned wooden rings and “bullet” gimmick with turned wooden rim. Height 12", opening diameter 3 ?". Very good. Rare. Floyd Thayer turned many small props, pocket tricks, and billiard balls (including his proprietary “clingo” design), having mastered the trade in a factory where California-themed novelties were produced. Apparatus of this size rarely came from his lathe, and even fewer examples have survived the decades since his passing.
