Vernelo & Co. Illustrated Catalogue of Superior Conjuring Apparatus. Chicago, 1901. Blue illustrated wraps retained in green cloth stamped in gilt. Includes extensive offerings of novelties, books, and other non-magical products. 8vo. Scarce. It was in the offices and workshops of Vernelo & Co. that The Sphinx magazine was first published and edited. The magazine went on to be the most influential of its kind in the twentieth century, and was edited for a short period by Mrs. Vernelo, known in the trade as M. Inez. Her husband was an itinerant magician; their Chicago magic shop was a short-lived enterprise.
