[AFRICAN AMERICAN-MUSICAL THEATER]. Pair of “Big Time Buck White” posters. N.p. [probably San Francisco], (1969). Two posters advertising Oscar Brown, Jr.’s “beautiful black musical,” adapted from the play by Joseph Dolan Tuotti, at the Committee Theater at 836 Montgomery Street in San Francisco. The first poster printed in black and brown, 21 ½ x 11 1/8”; second poster printed in black on stiff cardstock, 18 x 13 7/8”. (Both with staple holes in corners, small tears, and creases). When this musical played on Broadway later in 1969, Muhammad Ali, in his theatrical debut, played Buck White.
