[MUGSHOTS]. A group of 200 mugshots of gamblers. Mostly Philadelphia and New Jersey area criminals, 1930s–40s. Silver print mugshots (face and profile), mounted on index–size Bureau of Identification cards, all with typed or handwritten record of subject’s name, crime, age, physical description, etc. Each 3 x 4 ½”. Neatly organized in a modern binder. The collection depicts mostly white male subjects ranging in age from their 20s to 50s, and whose crimes include poolselling and bookmaking on horse race, gambling house, illegal lottery, etc. Includes a well compiled archive of newspaper articles pertaining to the criminal in each mugshot.
