Monroe, caught off-guard by the photographer snapping a picture, glances in the camera’s direction. 8 x 10”. John Huston’s 1961 film The Misfits would prove to be the last for Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable. Among the first photographers to arrive on set to document production were Henri Cartier-Bresson and Inge Morath, both of Magnum Photos, Inc. The photographers and cast enjoyed a light-hearted relationship despite the film’s troubled production, with much of the tension having to do with the deterioration of Marilyn Monroe’s marriage to playwright and Misfits screenwriter, Arthur Miller.
