New York: Samuel Green, 1838. Engraving, 19 1/8 x 14 ¼”. Bust, facing left, above which is an eagle with flag, arrows, and olive branch. Minor spotting across image; lightly browned; small pale damp-stain to lower right corner. Variant of the first state, with lines 8-10 differing from both entries recorded by Hart: “Engraved by R. Lowe N. York / Designed and executed entirely with the pen [by S. Green] / Entered according to Congress in the year 1838 by Samuel Green in the Clerk’s Office of the District Court of the Southern District of New York.” We could locate only one record thus: Cornwall, Effigies Poeticae, 762 (“very rare”).
