KAUFMANN, Charles and FABRY, Herman, photographers. A group of 19 photographs of an affluent Chicagoan’s home designed by David Adler. Chicago, 1957. Original black and white photographs, each verso with a studio stamp and a printed description. Each, 8 x 10”. The photos depict the 1301 Astor triplex designed by the famous Chicago architect, David Adler, for the Potter Palmers II in 1932. In the mid–1950s, Suzette Morton (heiress to Morton Salt Co.) moved into the residence. Suzette’s reputation as an art connoisseur and collector led First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy to appoint her to the Special Committee for White House Paintings. Shown in these photographs are mostly Asian antiquities which all appear to be affixed with auction tags.
