[VAUDEVILLE-DANCE] FORD, Mabel (American, 1888-1982). A collection of photographs, clippings, and associated ephemera. V.p., ca. 1900s/20s. Including over 40 glossy and matte-finish publicity photos, most depicting Ford alone or with her sister and performing partner Dora, in a variety of dramatic poses and costumes. Studios and photographers include: (32) by Apeda (New York); (5) by James Hargis Connelly; (3) by Lewis-Smith (Chicago); and several other studios in Cleveland, Los Angeles, Louisville, and New York. Size generally 11 x 14” or 8 x 10”. Lot also includes a hand-colored advertising transparency by Bewtex Products (New York); several real-photo postcards; assorted photos of Ford and others at costume parties and balls in the 1920s; signed wedding photos of Ford with her husband Jackie Curtis; other family photos; photos signed from other performers and presented to Mabel and Jackie; a piece of original cartoon art presented by Harry Hershfield to the Fords’ son, Jackie Curtis Jr.; and a collection of 1920s clippings, playbills, and magazines documenting Ford’s career on the vaudeville circuit.
