[CIRCUS]. A photograph of 3 elephants running for “vice president”. Circa 1924. Sepia–toned photo (8 x 10”) depicting 3 elephants, each named after a vice presidential nominee (Herbert Hoover, Frank Lowden, and Charles Dawes) to run with President Calvin Coolidge for a second term in 1924. Lowden was nominated but declined, Hoover was recommended but was disliked, and eventually the delegates chose Dawes, making this photograph a comedic approach on the matter.
