[AUSTEN, Jane (1775-1817)]. -- AUSTEN, George (1731-1805). Pair of George Austen ex-libris bookplates. Circa 18th century. 89 x 64 mm. Engraving of Austen family crest with George Austen’s name printed beneath. George Austen served as rector at Steventon Rectory in Hampshire where in 1775 his seventh child, Jane, was born. He retired and handed Steventon over to his son, James, in 1800, and five years later he passed away in Somerset with his wife and daughters Cassandra and Jane by his side.
