FAVINE, Andrew. The Theater of Honour and Knight Hood. London: William Jaggard, 1623. Folio. Illustrated with head and tail pieces, woodblock capitals, printer’s device on title page. Contemporary calf with arabesque (see Pearson’s English Bookbinding Styles, pg. 131) central gilt-tooled lozenge (crudely rebacked, lacking original ties, rubbing to extremities, soiling, notations to inner board). William Jaggard is best known as the printer of William Shakespeare’s First Folio, a project with which he was engaged in the same year as this book’s publication; he died a month before the First Folio’s printing, making The Theater of Honour and Knight Hood one of his final projects. Both books contain the same head and tail pieces.
