Lithograph poster advertising the Swiss rug distributor Schuster in celebration of the firm’s 150th anniversary. 50 ¼ x 36”. Linen backed. Small punctures and tears in corners; closed tear and center bottom edge. A-/B+. Gauchat studied under Otto Baumberger and Ernst Keller and worked for Orell Fussli, the printer of this poster. He designed banknotes for the Swiss government and carpets. Probably his most famous poster was for Bally shoes in 1935, which also makes notably use of carpet in the background.
