[CHICAGO]. –– [STEVENS HOTEL]. A large group of materials related to the construction of the Stevens Hotel. 1926–27. Includes 74 original sketches of furnishings and furniture by noted Chicago artist Fay M. Barnes, an envelope of stencils belonging to Fay M. Barnes, the 7 May 1927 issue of Hotel World with an extensive profile on the Stevens, blueprints for the main lounge, and various newspaper clippings. Designed in the Beaux-Arts style, the Stevens Hotel was the largest hotel in the world at the time of its construction, and is notable for having hosted every sitting U.S. president since its opening in 1927.
