Printed in red and black, woodcut title–page and illustrated facing page with full foliated woodcut page–border, 9 full–page wood engravings, 9–line initial capitals and smaller, numerous chapter openings with full foliated woodcut page–border, all designed by Bradley. Original publisher’s buckram–backed pictorial boards stamped in red and black, gilt–lettered spine, top edge gilt, others uncut (extremities toned with some spotting, foot of spine a bit frayed, corners rubbed). LIMITED EDITION, number 498 of 600 copies. Considered to be Bradley’s masterpiece of Art Nouveau design, the artist was given complete creative control over the entire process, becoming what a contemporary review called “[his] most complete and perfect production”.
