BURROUGHS, Edgar Rice (1875–1950). Typed document signed (“Edgar Rice Burroughs”) for the publication of “The Son of Tarzan”, 5 July 1916. 2 pages, 4to (330 x 210 mm), rectos only, accomplished in type, docketed in manuscript verso, upper corner stapled, folds present. A contractual agreement between Burroughs and A.C. McClurg for the publication of the author’s fourth novel in book form of the manuscript entitled “The Son of Tarzan”. The book is to be sold at retail for $1.30 and Burroughs is to receive royalties of 12.5% on the first 5,000 sold and 15% thereafter. Burroughs also expresses that all dramatic and moving picture rights are reserved by him. SIGNED BY BURROUGHS and countersigned by the president of A.C. McClurg, Ogden McClurg, and two witnesses including Joseph Bray who would become president of the publishing house shortly after.
