Full orange levant gilt with interlocking linear design based on the traced route of a journey by Lawrence in the desert, gilt–lettered spine, uncut, marbled endpapers, blind stamp–signed by H.J.D. Yardley 1971; morocco–backed chemise; marbled slipcase with wood base and top. Laid in with textual omissions sheet. FIRST ENGLISH TRADE EDITION with incorrect listing of illustrations on pp. 304–305, in a HANDSOME DESIGNER BINDING. H. J.D. Yardley (1905-1972) was an amateur binder who enrolled at the Central School of Arts and Crafts where he was taught by William Matthews. In 1956 he was elected to the Guild of Contemporary Bookbinders, later becoming an exhibiting Fellow of the Designer Bookbinders. O’Brien A042.
