CHANDLER, Raymond (1888–1959). Typed letter signed (“Ray”) to his agent H.N. Swanson (“Dear Swanie”) discussing the author’s novelette for Manhunt crime magazine, La Jolla, California, 10 September 1954. One page, 8vo (279 x 216 mm), on letterhead with the author’s personal rubberstamp, annotation in manuscript, gently creased. Chandler receives an offer for his short detective story, possibly “Wrong Person” which was published in Manhunt in 1960. The author discusses his mistrust for the company but says that “might be able to carve a five or six thousand word story out of a pile of junk I have that I haven’t looked at for six months”.
