DALSTROM, Gustaf (1893-1971). Untitled (Card Players). 1943. Oil on board. Outdoor scene depicts two men and a woman seated at a table playing a card game. Framed, 34 x 37 ½”. SIGNED AND DATED AT LOWER RIGHT. Gustaf Dalstrom was a WPA artist who served as president of Chicago Society of Artists beginning in 1927. Throughout the Great Depression and World War II he painted numerous murals which can still be seen today throughout Illinois, his most famous being The Great Indian Council - 1833, which is on view at the South Loop Post Office in Chicago.
