Huestis & Levy Playing Cards. New York, ca. 1855. 52. One-way courts. Scattered even browning and finger-soiling to faces; short closed tear to KD; scattered small white ink spotting to edges not affecting faces. Hochman NY19. A RARE early American deck from the partnership of John J. Levy and “Huestis,” whose identity has never been traced. The address printed on the Ace of Spades, 177 & 179 Grand St, New York, was the location of the Union Card Manufactory building. As noted in Hochman, this was the first American deck to utilize five-color printing.
