[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. Tintype of a traveling snake show circus. American, ca. 1860s/70s. Depicting five people facing the camera, two with snakes around their bodies, and including non-white men and a boy, possibly American Indian. Banners lettered [Sna]-ke Den at front, and a smaller sign below apparently lettered “Awwanetunx,” perhaps the name of a featured snake. 3 3/16 x 2 ½”. A RARE image.
