Original program in leather booklet with attached blue and white tassel and the University of Michigan seal embossed on front cover. SIGNED BY EARL HINES AND GEORGE OLSEN. Earl Hines began his professional career at the age of 17, playing piano in a Philadelphia nightclub, and from there moved on to Chicago, where he made the acquaintance of Louis Armstrong and took a job performing in Al Capone’s Grand Terrace Cafe. A scarce, early Hines signature, before he adopted his “Fatha” nickname. Provenance: The Bo Overlock Collection.
