[HOLIDAY, Billie (1915-1959)]. Index Card Signed by Billie Holiday. Ballpoint signature on lined sheet of paper cut down to size and mounted on board. 2 ½ x 4 ¼”. SIGNED BY BILLIE HOLIDAY. Few performers have defined jazz singing the way that Billie Holiday has. Her 1939 rendition of “Strange Fruit” shone a bright light upon the dark practice of lynching then prevalent and in many cases openly celebrated throughout the United States, and would ultimately become her biggest-selling hit.
