Russ Walsh Vanishing Ball and Club. Chicago: Russ Walsh, 1950s. The magician causes a golf ball in a tee to vanish. Then in turn, the golf club visibly vanishes. Includes gimmicked tee and metal vanishing golf club. Minor wear. Very good. The gimmicked golf tee is the first of its kind we have encountered. Walsh, a steel salesman by day, is widely credited as developing the technology for the Vanishing Cane (though other versions of the effect were produced before his “improved” models came into being). He was also a frequent “club date” performer in the Chicago area, and developed a golf-themed act popular with country club audiences.
