[JAPANESE ART]. GOOKIN, Frederick William. (1853–1936). An archive of works dealing with the life and career of Frederick W. Gookin, including: Handwritten notes on currency regulation, unpublished articles on Japanese textiles, original correspondence, sheet music and others. Circa 1890s–1920s. Frederick William Gookin was curator of the Clarence S. Buckingham Collection of Japanese Prints at the Art Institute of Chicago as well as a banker at the Northwestern National Bank of Chicago. He was recognized as a foremost expert on Japanese culture.
