London: for J.F. and C. Rivington and B. Law, 1785. Small 4to (260 x 216 mm). Title, contents and 33 double-page engraved maps by R. W. Seale after Christoph Cellarius. Contemporary sheep–backed boards (upper cover detached, boards worn, early notations to endleaves). Provenance: William Clayton (signature on title–page dated 1788). A fine 18th–century school atlas. Cellarius, professor of classics at Halle University, was a prolific author, and numerous editions of his two principal geographical works, Notitia Orbis Antiqui, first published in Leipzig, 1701–06, and the present work, first published in Leipzig in 1686, are known.
