Provenance: Contemporary bookseller’s ticket (W.A. Leary’s Books); Benjamin Fort (early ownership inscription dated 1841, rubberstamps on title–page).

FIRST EDITION of this first–hand account based on the author’s own participation in the War of 1812, which mainly took place in Indiana and the surrounding Great Lakes region. “This valuable work is now scarce; it is one of the most authentic books on the subject, and is the source from which many subsequent writers have borrowed very freely” (Sabin).
