Contemporary full burgundy levant gilt, raised bands, spine compartments with gilt–lettering and small tools gilt, all edges gilt, concealing a FORE–EDGE PAINTING BY MARTIN FROST of a Rococo design (pencil note dated 1986). (Tiny losses near head). Provenance: Presented by Gladys McKenney Molony to the Saint Mary–of–the–Woods College Library (inscription dated 11 November 1986 on front flyleaf), collector of fore–edge paintings; sold at the Robert Brown Auction in 2007 at the Saint–Mary–of–the–Woods College Library sale.
