HELD, John, Jr. (American, 1889-1958). Woman Crying. Circa 1920s. Original pen, ink, and watercolor drawing on paper. Signed by Held near the right margin. Visible area: 9 ¾ x 6 ½”. Minor occasional soiling. Matted (matte size: 16 x 11 ¾”). Not examined out of matte. An excellent item. Held was one of the most prolific magazine illustrators of the 1920s; today he is best known for the cover image of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Tales of the Jazz Age (1922).
