Letterpress poster printed in three colors advertising the “greatest of all living sleight of hand conjurors, [who] gives two representations daily… Monsieur Buatier’s tricks are original and totally different to those of other conjurors. 21 ½ x 13”. Margins over-colored, old central fold; B. Linen backed. Rare. Widely regarded as one of the most inventive illusionists of his generation – many of the magician’s creations became standard effects that are still performed in the modern era – posters advertising de Kolta are true rarities. His appearance at London’s famed Egyptian Hall was a transformative appearance for many of the greatest conjurers of the era, who for the first time witnessed his spectacular Vanishing Bird Cage, the Cocoon illusion, and his Vanishing Lady, among other de Kolta-devised specialties.
