Posters include: Save Freedom of Worship / Buy War Bonds; Save Freedom of Speech / Buy War Bonds; OURS… to fight for / Freedom from Want; OURS… to fight for / Freedom from Fear. All posters approximately 28 x 20”. All have original folds, some toning, occasional edgewear, a few short marginal tears (Freedom of Speech has a tear at the right margin approximately 2” long). All unbacked. A-. These images originally appeared in The Saturday Evening Post in 1943; these images were so popular that the War Department used them for fund-raising purposes. The phrase “the Four Freedoms” was borrowed from the 1941 State of the Union address by President Franklin D. Roosevelt (1933-1945), where he declared that all people have an innate right to these freedoms, even in the face of dictatorships.
