THE POLICE. Crew jacket. California: 1981. Peach satin jacket with black, red piping and ribbed elastic cloth collar, cuffs, and waistband. With “Bill” embroidered on the left chest. On the rear is the attractive “Police North American 1981 Police Tour” embroidered gold badge design. There is no size label, but it is most likely a men’s small. Dry cleaner’s ticket on collar label, some apparent aging to jacket, else quite nice. The Police consisted of Sting, Stewart Copeland, and Andy Summers, and was one of the most successful (commercially and critically) rock bands of the 1980s and beyond. In 1981, they were promoting their latest album, Zenyatta Mondatta (A & M Records), which had two hits: “Don’t Stand So Close to Me,” and “De Do Do Do De Da Da Da”. Provenance: The Bo Overlock Collection.
