Describes all manner of crime in Chicago including murder, crooked gambling, robbery, and prostitution. [Together with:] The Devil and the Grafter. [Chicago: author, 1907]. Publisher’s pictorial blue cloth stamped in red and black. 8vo. Illustrated, including frontispiece. Presumed first edition. Spine toned and worn, binding worn and soiled, ffep lacking, hinges cracked, text toned with occasional soiling. Good. Some illustrations depict Wooldridge wearing disguises, including “a Jew in the Ghetto”, and “Policy-Sam Johnson”.
