FIRST EDITION by an anonymous author now thought to be William Laird Clowes who published an article in 1877 titled “An Amateur Assassin” about his experience taking hashish which employ many of the same phrases and formulations in Confessions. The article also refers to several of the same experiences and incidents found in Confessions.
