FIRST EDITION, of one of the earliest English-language works on opium. Includes discussions on cultivation, preparation, use and abuse, intoxication, addiction, and withdrawal. RARE: often seen with the 1701 date, this first edition dated 1700 last appeared in the rooms in 1981. Hunter & Macalpine, pp. 282-84; Waring, p. 586. A Horowitz high spot.
