8vo. Original printed yellow wrappers, uncut (some sunning at extremities, spine ends with some wear, old price label on spine); folding box. Provenance: sold 14 December 1970 Sotheby’s, lot 230.

PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY HENRY MILLER TO AUSTRIAN WRITER ALFRED PERLÈS. Miller and Perlès were roommates in Clichy in 1933. Miller wrote of this experience in his book Quiet Days in Clichy (1956), in which the character “Carl” is based on Perlès. A Horowitz high spot.
