FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR TO LARRY McMURTRY: “For dear Larry- The sentiment on pg. ix is merely a token of my appreciation for your friendship over the years - even at times unpopular friendship - I only wish I had your gift for prose, I could have done this so much better then- All my love as ever - Peter”. On pg. ix, Peter thanks several people including McMurtry who made “considerable contributions” to this work. In 1971, Bogdanovich co-wrote and directed the adaptation of The Last Picture Show, originally written as a semi-autobiographical novel in 1966 of the same name by McMurtry. The film, starring Jeff Bridges, was nominated for eight Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director. A WONDERFUL ASSOCIATION COPY.
