8vo. Original black cloth; original unclipped dust jacket (some light edgewear). Provenance: Larry McMurtry (his bookplate, which he designed, features the horseshoe-shaped brand his father and grandfather used on the McMurtry cattle), from his personal library at his home in Archer City.

FIRST BRITISH EDITION, containing the original version of the The Third Man, which had several cuts and changes made before submission to the International Authorities in Vienna, from whom permission to shoot the film version in Vienna had to be obtained. The classic 1949 Film-Noir version of The Third Man starred Joseph Cotton and Orson Welles, winning an Academy Award for Best Cinematography in 1951.
