Titles in red and black with engraved vignette, text within typographic border with woodcut initials, engraved frontispiece in vol. 1 by and after Picart, folding engraved portrait of Wilhelmina Charlotte Princess of Wales by F. Gunst after Kneller, 6 engraved plates by and after Picart, engraved head- and tail-pieces by Picart (some offsetting). Full contemporary red sheep, covers with elaborate gilt borders and central panels with alternating tools, within the frames is a central lozenge of drawer-handle and fleuron tools, spines in 8 compartments with raised bands, gilt lettering-pieces in 2, others completely gilt, edges gilt, dentelles, patterned endpapers (some splitting to rear joint near foot of vol. 1, joints rubbed with some repairs to front joint on vol. 1, spines a bit darkened, some wear at ends, corners also rubbed, few tiny spots of surface wear to covers including an old repair on upper cover of vol. 2). (Some leaves lightly browned, some occasional offsetting and spotting, else fine). Provenance: Herbert Eberhard Hering (booklabel), a notable German-Brazilian book collector and bibliophile.
