Half contemporary crushed red levant gilt, spine in 6 compartments with raised bands, gilt-lettering in 2, others gilt, top edge gilt, STAMP SIGNED BY ROOT (spine gently darkened, very tiny spots of rubbing). Provenance: Charless Sessler (booksellers’ typed note); Edward G. Budd (ownership inscription dated 1929), a noted American inventor and businessman.
