Browne [“Phiz”], EXTRA-ILLUSTRATED with the complete 72 etched plates by Thomas Sibson (1817-1844) and 6 of the rare “Jacob Parallel” plates that were originally published by Berger in 1841 as a separate suite of plates; includes the extra title-page and list of illustrations issued with the Sibson plates. Full early 20th century polished calf ruled in gilt, spines in 6 compartments with raised bands, red and citrus leather lettering-pieces gilt in 2, others completely gilt, edges gilt, gilt dentelles, stamp-signed by Riviere (spines a bit darkened, joints rubbed with some splitting, a bit of wear and ends and corners). FIRST EDITION IN BOOK FORM, with the rare plates by Sibson published by Tyas to coincide with and extra-illustrate Chapman and Hall’s monthly issue of Master Humphrey. The plates were subsequently published in one volume by Tyas in 1842 with only 70 plates.
