GREY, Zane (1872-1939). The Vanishing American. New York and London: Harper & Brothers, 1925.
8vo. Frontispiece. Original reddish-brown cloth stamped in blue; original price-clipped dust jacket (spine sunned, some light edgewear).
FIRST EDITION, INSCRIBED BY GREY TO LOLA GORNALL, dated 14 October 1934. Lola was an Australian writer, who over the course of 3 years, kept a written correspondence with Grey (see Gornall papers at Yale). They finally met in Auckland with high expectations, but Lola parried Zane’s advances. The two would still maintain their correspondence over the years even though it would never become physical.
