[AMERICAN FOLK ART]. Painted Sign for Maxincuckee Lodge 373, Culver, IN, of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. (American, 20th century). Paint on board. Lodge sign with “IOOF 373” with the familiar Odd Fellows 3 chain link motif (representing Friendship, Love, and Truth), with painted decorations in red on right and left sides of text. Oval sign is in 2 pieces, reinforced on back with 1 x 4” boards (5 of these). 28 x 38 ½”. Three bolt-holes in sign, seam between 2 pieces is visible and missing grout. Sign is worn with surface dirt. Fair condition. Charming.
