Brazilian Kayapo Indian Ceremonial Headdress. Exact tribe unknown. (Brazilian, 20th century). Plant fiber, reeds and feathers in a double-sided Plexiglas frame. These headdresses are worn at initiations, at funeral rituals, by shamans, for social visiting, to express group identity, to mark life stages, or to exercise political power. This is a compelling example in excellent shape with vibrant color. Headdress 29 x 21". Frame 37 x 29 x 1". Overall, good condition.
