[MINIATURE TOY THEATRE]. Neues Nuernberger Schattentheater. Nuremberg: C. Abel Klinger, [ca. 1899]. Scarce wooden toy theatre in original paper-covered wooden box with label; with three paper backdrops (one black and white, two in color) with wooden frames, with wooden proscenium arch (in three pieces), with instruction sheet and a one-page “script.” Also with three collections of silhouette moving puppets on sticks (“Figuren zum Cirkus Gummi-Elastico,” “Figuren zur Wald-Landschaft,” and “Figuren zur Winterlandschaft”, all made by Marke; sets either in original boxes or portfolio). Also with eight sheets (“Chinesche Schimmen”) of silhouette puppets or set pieces on paper (none have been cut-out). With a manuscript notebook of stage scenarios for the theatre. With an illustrated panel mimicking the original box label. Generally worn and soiled (box bottom loose but present, one of the color backdrops is torn around the frame, loose instruction sheet and scenario are worn and torn) due to age and use. An incredibly rare item; only one other set was found online (at the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin), made by the famous globe manufacturer, C. Abel Klinger.
