FIRST COLLECTED EDITION, containing the first book appearance of Double Indemnity. In the presumed first issue jacket (although the jacket is price-clipped, it lacks the 2nd issue price stamp (“$2.50”) at the bottom of the front flap). Double Indemnity first appeared in Liberty Magazine in 1936. Double Indemnity is the basis of the classic 1944 film noir starring Fred MacMurray, Barbara Stanwyck and Edward G. Robinson, directed by Billy Wilder from a screenplay by Raymond Chandler and Wilder.
