Provenance: Larry McMurtry (his bookplate, which he designed, features the horseshoe-shaped brand his father and grandfather used on the McMurtry cattle), from his personal library at his home in Archer City; C.W. Shoemaker (ownership signature dated 1914).
FIRST EDITION by the author best-known for his studies on the influence of climate on civilization. In 1901, Huntington explored the canyons of the Euphrates River in Turkey and traveled through central Asia between 1903 and 1906. These travels are published here for the first time.
