[McMURTRY, Larry (1936-2021), his copy]. WAUGH, Evelyn (1903-1966). Ninety-Two Days. The Account of a Tropical Journey Through British Guiana and Part of Brazil. New York: Farrar & Rinehart, [1934].
8vo. Folding map, numerous plates from photographs. Original yellow cloth stamped in dark green, dark green top stain; original dust jacket (edges reinforced on verso, some very light edgewear). Provenance: Larry McMurtry (his bookplate, which he designed, features the horseshoe-shaped brand his father and grandfather used on the McMurtry cattle), from his personal library at his home in Archer City.
FIRST AMERICAN EDITION with publisher’s slug on copyright. McMurtry said of Waugh, who he nominated as a model for young writers, in an article with Texas Monthly (September 2010) that he “seldom published an unclear sentence”.
